The iconic bus compressor of the SSL4000 is undoubtedly the most heard dynamic processor of all times - no other unit has leveled so many hit records over the decades, just because it was simply... there. And it worked.
We made it work again, just without the console, and without the price tag some commercial units have on them these days. We rather went for features that support the VCA's flexibility and clean sound, to help you incorporate this historic piece into your everyday workflow.
Stay in control
From the modern approach of the famous "Aarhuis-mode" to a true "feedback sidechain", electronically balanced or transformer outputs, to a blend control that makes parallel processing a no-brainer. Modern features in a compact package.
Keep it clean...
Even if we went crazy on the sidechain features - we kept the audio signal path as short as possible. High quality components where it really matters, we made sure this unit delivers nothing but transparent results - even at high compression levels!
...and flexible
Besides the original stepped values for attack and release times, we found ourselves missing faster times for more extreme compression - and made an optional manual release from 300ms to a stunning 10ms. Let's make those room mics come to life!
